The first time I collaborated with Super Great Fantastic was at SXSW 2022, emerging from the COVID lockdown. I needed an in-market production company that could handle the multi-faceted production that I was building for Translation/UnitedMasters. This included a full financial literacy conference in the day and a music showcase at night with our emerging and Grammy-nominated artists. Alongside that, we had several sponsor integrations to build, and SGF was there every step of the way, making us feel included and valued in the process.
To make this happen with a quick turn, we met at the venue, and SGF came up with solutions, knowing that I would not have all the details yet. They built the lighting and stage packages to be adaptable to different artists, which allowed us to book equipment ahead of premium pricing. Once the performing artists were confirmed, the tech was in place to respond rapidly to rider requests. The same strategy was applied to fabrication; they had solutions early to discuss with the sponsors, so we had sign-off on the larger items, leaving room to shift as additional requests came in.
Without SGF in place, the event would not have happened. They seamlessly put together a 26-hour production day that was broken into several different sections with an oversold performance to close the night. When needed, they were able to value engineering certain elements because the pre-production was so strong. I never hesitate to call them for help; after SXSW 2022, they also produced 2023, and I continue to rely on Super Great Fantastic. -

The Gathering is one of those events that will stay with you forever. SGF has managed to create pure intimate magic on every level: location, ambiance, setting, gastronomy, wine selection, music, live performance, talks, production planning and art direction.
